Lighthouse gets a face lift
The Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Museum has been given a fresh coat of paint
just in time for the tourist season in Kingston SE.
The lighthouse sits on dry land, near the Kingston Caravan Park, after
having been relocated from the Margaret Brock Reef, which it guarded for
many years.
During its useful life, warning passing shipping of the hidden danger,
it was home to several lighthouse keepers and their families which lived
above the reef on a platform which, at the time of writing, is still in
situ.
The lighthouse management said only the exterior has been painted, as
doing that needed the assistance of steeplejacks, however painting the
interior will be done by volunteers.
